The ONLY correct response

When ever I go the bigger cities around me,I'm always packing heat.
The other day I went into a Home Depot to pick up some building materials that one of my customers bought, and my CZ was showing from under my jacket.I didn't realize it until I heard some people walk by and say:"That Guy Has A Gun".When I looked around, there were other people staring as they walked by,and I noticed a guy wearing a HD jacket staring at me from about six isles down.

I decided that to cover it up might look suspicious,so I just carried on with my business.I have a CCW,even though we don't have any laws against OC in my state,I was advised that it would be a good thing to get by the local chief LEO in town.

I wish more people would OC in my state so it would not be such a shock to people when they do see someone with a gun in a holster strapped to their belt.

Anybody else ever had a similar situation like mine?
To sheeple exclaiming "That guy has a gun"

Is

"No, this guy's got LOTS of guns"

More power to you, and OC is good because it openly asserts the RKBA which is the right and responsibility of every citizen (either open or concealed).

I prefer concealed carry but the merits of both OC and CC have been very much discussed on this site. Suffice it to say both should be un infringed and unencumbered.

Cheers

He said that N.H. doesn't require you to get a permit, but if you are going to the range,or hunting,etc..,most people don't want to have their weapons out in the open on the front seat or in plain site. However,if you cover it up and you get pulled over while driving for some reason, the cop can ask you if you have any weapons. If you say yes,and it is covered up,that could be considered concieling a weapon. But if you have a permit, there won't be an issue.

It's a strange idea to me,maybe some of you cops or ex-cops that are on here, could weigh in on this.
It's just a case of know the laws where you're at. LEO or not, if the weapon is covered for any reason it is considered concealed. If you dont want it visible and dont wanna get busted for carrying w/out a permit, simply carry it locked, and unloaded in a case in the trunk. In Kansas it's kind of hard to know when and where you're legal due to the fact that while legal under STATE law, each jurisdiction has it's own laws regarding the practice. I'm going to contact my state reps and try to get the laws to be not quite so obscure. It would be nice to be able to find the info more readily, seeing as how not even the states AG's office puts it plainly.
ANd even most LE agencies I've contacted are fairly clueless on this point.

I don't advertise that I'm carrying a concealed weapon, but I don't go to great lengths to keep my pistol concealed either. If it prints or shows when I lift my arms, so be it. As long as I have my permit and I'm not carrying in an area where it is unlawful in my state (courthouse, school, airport, etc.), it doesn't concern me too much.

The down side to open carry is that EVERYONE KNOWS you have a gun. And this could draw the attention of a person or people that might try and take it. Yes, yes I know everyone thinks they could shoot the attacker/attackers before they got their gun away from them, but that's REALLY hard to do after they hit you in the back of the head or you get rushed by a group. If your state has CCW, use it. Its better to have a J-frame in your belt then a hog leg on your hip.

Ya I got off repo work one night and walked into our local large grocery store. I just needed to get milk bread eggs etc. I made it to the peanut butter aisle when a cop walks up with a drawn service piece and tells me to put my face on the floor. Naturally I didnt want to spend my last minutes on earth in skippy land so I did it. He cuffed me took my firearms and asked what I was up to.
I was pretty tired and didnt even think about the tazer I had strapped to my right thigh and the .357 in the holster under my left arm. I told him I had a carry permit and he got it out of my wallet and told him I just got off repo job. He tried to tell me I had to carry concealed. I just said that is not the case but I was too tired to argue with him. He made me put them in my car. So I just said the hell with it and went home.
The next day I called the Police department of that city and nicely explained what happened and told them the state law does not require me to carry concealed. I asked them to research this.
I also asked them to inform their officiers that it is a carry permit and not a concealed permit. They of course told me if they get a complaint it doesnt matter if it is concealed or not.

And that is a classic example of why I'm trying to get my lawmakers to improve on the clarity of the legalese, since out of some 20 LEOS of various rank were clueless to what the law actually says.

Even if we were allowed to open carry in Texas (they tried but it didn't pass) I'd still carry concealed. I don't think I'd like all the stares I'd get & I know I wouldn't like some comments I know I'd hear.
