Talking My first deer

Shot my first deer today...about time!! Nothing special. About a 100 pound button buck but hey...it's meat in the freezer. About a 50 yard shot with a NEF sidekick muzzleloader, 100 grains powder, 245 grain powerbelt. Dropped him where he stood, broadside shot, high front shoulder (right where i was aiming). Took a pic with my cousins camera... will post it when I get it.

Nice, congratulations!

It won't be the last. There's no such thing as a last until your dead. Crippled doesn't count, I've seen a one armed man hunt in a wheelchair, WITH A BOW.

I got my first two weeks ago or so. Tiny doe, but daaaamn is the meat tender on the small ones...

Congratulations to both of you. There'll be plenty more where they came from too. I shot and killed my first buck about this time in 1974, just before I joined the Navy. I used a borrowed Golden State Arms .303 British Enfield sporter. Since then, I used an '03 Springfield sporter when hunting alone, or a 12 gauge pump with a full choke and loaded with 00 buck on deer drives, the latest being a Winchester Model 12.

The first one is possibly the greatest one! You may top it in boone and crocket points....but ya can't top it in memory points! I anticipate the pics...I wanna see the look on your face!

I have a ton of pics I'd like to put up...I need a scanner or to fix my disk drive so I can get the pics on my laptop. Mostly pics of my nephews hunting when they were younger.

Congrats on your first deer.

I tend to try to make first out of most of them if I can. It seems to make it that much better. First with a rifle, first with a bow, first from a ground blind, etc etc.

Right now I'm still trying for my first of this year. lol

Well...just got back from getting the deer cut up. Little off on the weight..weighed 125 pounds. Lost a little meat in the shoulder where I shot it but I am still happy with my first deer.

Congrats! Now you'll be lookin' for recipes! Not much beats a bowl of venison stew or chili and a fire in the fireplace while you watch Monday Night Football on a cold winter night.
