put out some corn. if you use an automatic feeder, hang it at least 12 ft off the ground and away from any trees or branches or the bears will destroy it. rasberry jello powder sprinkled over the corn and on the ground sends out a smell that hogs love. we also put a pan made from a cut off plastic drum filled with old resturant cooking oil. the hogs roll in it and eat it. where is your lease? I often hunt on a buddy's Lykes lease near Palmdale.

Food randomly tossed on the ground

where you wish them to congregate. Sliced apples are a big treat.
Hogs like them and the smell carries for their sensitive noses.

will the rasberry powder scare off the deer though. I want to kill a hog in the process of deer hunting.

Hi Barnes2007.

Mix corn and molasses in a bucket and spread it around the stand 25-50yadrs away from it. check witch way they come by the stand and watch out for the wind. that should do it. This works for our wild boar here in sweden but i think it should work for you as well.

when you keep putting feed and atractants out in the same spot regulary, the deer will get used to the smell. we see lots of deer and even some big racked bucks at our feeders. we also use molasses, soured corn, and cut up wild oranges at our feeders.

Soak corn ears in diesel, then put them out. Hogs will love it. Nothing else will touch it.

That's last one brings up a couple of burning questions. What were the circumstances where you found out that hogs like corn soaked in diesel?!? And how does a hog taste that's been eatin' corn soaked in diesel?

I tried the diesel-soaked corn trick using a 5 gal. bucket of corn and 1 gal. of diesel. I had a board on top with a 10+ lb. rock holding it down. The first night I had it at the barn, the coons knocked it over and ate every last kernel. Now I just use regular corn and a little Hog Heaven attractant (sometimes). Strawberry KoolAid mix works pretty well too. Here's are a good resource for info:

If you smell a bag of "hog wild" attractant, you will smell raspberry jello. I'm sure any kind of fruit flavored powder like jello or kool aid will attract hogs. they have one of the best noses in the animal kingdom. don't use obama kool aid though, the hogs you attract will not be good for anything and will keep hanging around your stand waiting for more freebies and they will definatly scare away all the good hogs and deer!

Well,

a food they like and can smell really does make a difference in domestic and not so domestic hogs.

A serving of apples cut into quarters is a big treat to them.

Of course, other posters will also have valid suggestions.
