If it's not the Red Sox, I could not care less who is in the World Series. As long as the Evil Empire doesn't win the Series - ideally, as long as the damned Yankees don't make it to the Series - as far as I'm concerned it's been a good year in baseball.

And yes, I'm a citizen of the Red Sox Nation and proud of it. My great-grandfather on my mother's side watched the Sox win the Series a century ago. My grandfather was there when they won their last title in the 20th Century. My mother spent her whole life rooting for the Sox, and died before they ended the Curse of the Bambino. And I spent my life having my heart broken every ten years or so when the Series would go to the seventh game with the Red Sox in it - and they'd lose. That is, until 2004, when they won it all for three generations of devoted fans, and again in 2007, when the team won it for themselves.

Someone let me know how it turns out. I'm busy rooting for the Patriots now that the Sox are out of the playoffs.
