Motor Vehicle Accident Today

Hi all, thought I'd keep you all up to date on Brother Bob. He was involved in a motor vehicle accident on the way home from work today around 4:45 pm. We just purchased a car the car this week (trying to get something to save on gas because he drives 32 miles each way to work).

He was on a major highway here in Mississippi. It has been raining all day and as he was approaching an intersection he slowed to approximately 55 as he had the green light to proceed. A lady turned left in front of him, he slammed on his brakes, and skid about 110 ft. When he hit her van he was probably going 35 mph. It spun him around and of course the airbags BLEW and that was it. The lady told the officers on the scene that she thought she had a green light (she did have a green light, just not a protected turn light). He is ok, his arms are bruised and swollen from the airbags and he has a slight abrasion on his stomach also. His was attended to by the paramedics on the scene and was told his blood pressure was high. I'm sure mostly from the accident and aftermath.

I'll was told to keep an eye on him and if anything comes up, to take him to the hospital. He probably will be hurting more tomorrow than he can even imagine. Talked with our insurance company and now await again for the process to begin. Will keep you up to date. Mrs. Brother Bob.

Wow!
I’m really sorry this happened but as they say it could have been much worse.
May all gets back to normal very soon. Keep us posted.

Thank God he came through a high speed accident and lived to tell about it. It's been pretty bad weather here too. Please tell Bob I said to take care of himself and watch out for the other guy/gal when on the road. I know about those long commutes too. Thanks for passing this along. We wish you both well.

Bob is required by employer to take a defensive driving course annually so he is a very cautious driver, but anytime this sort of thing happens it scares the begeezes out of all of us. He has not had a motor vehicle accident since 1972 and no moving violations since 1982.

His employer puts the fear of God in you that if you are involved in any accident (whether on company time or personal), it's your fault, unless it's an animal.

Just from your description, Bob was driving very defensively. Apparently, the other person wasn't. No mishap since 1972? That is impressive.

He's in some pain, more pi$$ed than anything. When I got there he was pacing back and forth. If it wouldn't been a woman involved, he might of kicked a$$ and took names later. He's a tough ol' German/Okie so he'll be ok, just sore and now we have to go look for another car.

LOL, Brother Bob said apparently he wasn't driving defensively enough or this wouldn't have happened. Even when it's not your fault, you are out time and money.

First your daughter, now Bob. Not a good year for your auto insurance.

So true, but neither of these accidents were our fault.

Wow! I am really happy he is all right, and it sounds like the lady he hit is okay as well. I hope he isn't to sore over the next few days.

Glad it was a survival situation

Will pray that all involved have no conditions or situations that develop a bit later in time.
