First Deer with Military Rifle

About 8:30 Wednesday morning I took my first deer with an M1A. I have taken well over 150 in the past with bow, blackpowder, high power rifle and handgun, but this was my first with a MBR. When I return to the camp Saturday I will have an M1 Garand and an 03 so now they will get their chance. I would love to take one with the 1944 Winchester M1.

For years, I've been using an '03 Springfield sporter made by Rock Island Arsenal with the original 24" barrel. I might give my '03 Springfield service rifle a try.

M1A would be kind of... arguable... get out there with the '03 or Garand, and you can say, without a doubt, you took a deer with a military rifle.

The only thing I killed was a cotton tail bunny with my M16 while on a training exercise in CA. My squad leader pulled his blank adapter off and dropped a 22 cal pellet down his barrel and then handed me a few and asked if I wanted to hunt for bunnies. Our Platoon Sgt just shook his head and said he didn't want to know how we did it.
