| I am Tile Man!!
The Chocolate Marble with White Marble Marshmallow Ribbons shower. 30 sq. ft. and 7 shower heads plus steam. I did not design this shower. The install is impeccable, the design is circa 1974... ![]() ![]() Architectural Stone set like tile. (with visible joints) looks cooler when you can accent the stone with a colored mortar. Usually it's just crunched together with no mortar... And on my install you can climb it.. ![]() ![]() 2'x2' Travertine. Man, this tile is so huge and heavy, the top step area is diagonal. I don't like the fill on this style. The epoxy/Marmo is too bold and contrasts with the tile. ![]() The original framing of this patio had it sloping the "wrong way" after the "contractor" had put his plywood and "waterproofing material" on. After having it fail miserably, I installed Perma-Base (lightweight cement board) and floated the patio to the height I needed with Custom's Speed-Set (mixed to a water like consistency, it finds it's own level and becomes rock hard in a few hours.) It now slopes as it should. I know some of you would ask "Why not Dry-Pack or float the whole thing?" Simply put.. Ease of install and strength. The Perma-Base is screwed and glued and 1/2 the weight of conventional Cement Boards and just as strong. So 2 layers coupled with 6" Fiberglass Tape took 1.5 hours. ![]() ![]() ![]() The client I am working for currently is a devout Christian and has a Family Church/Prayer room, this is on the ceiling of that room. (other side of rock wall) Pretty cool.

| It's not just patios that are uneven. A few years ago, I tiled my entire house which sits on a cement slab. Slab foundations are common in our area. Almost the entire floor was uneven with depressions and rises. Of course, tile doesn't conform to that sort of topography, so I had to level those areas with a type of floor filler. The so-called right angles in the house were another story. The builder must have used some sort of “creative math” to make all the angles come together in the end. You would think that builders could do a better job leveling floors and measuring angles before hanging a handsome price tag on their sloppy work. I know some parts of the country have excellent standards; others don’t.
