Aaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhh

Doesn’t anybody THINK anymore????? Sorry guys but I need to vent.

#1 I work with a bunch of guys that are clueless and have no common sense. My boss asked me a few minutes ago about a truck in the lot that has a bunch of stuff in the back. He mentioned the tire and transmission. I told him that I put them there. Some moron left the transmission just lying in the parking lot and the tire was the front tire to the truck that could not be put back on due to the accident. Anyway, I was just out in the lot and happened to see what my boss didn’t mention being in the back of the truck. Some idiot put a plastic liner for the wheel well, a filter box and air intake on top of the tire and transmission. Light weight stuff that could easily fly out as the truck is riding on the back of a big rig going to Texas. I had to tell these idiots earlier this year during muster, “Do not put items in vehicles that are going to Texas that could come out and fly onto the highway and hit another car.” I guess I am going to have to tell them again on Monday during muster. (I have to write myself a note otherwise I will forget.) I don’t know what language I have to speak in order to get my point across.

#2 Last week we had a meeting in the break room for us “office” personnel. There was 6 new hires and 5 of us old timers there. We all had to tell each other what our job entails so the newbies could get an idea of what we all do. Well two of the “old timers” must have wanted to impress the newbies because they told the newbies that they were my back-up when I wasn’t there. Just as they said that I thought to myself, “What a crock of s@$t that is.” I usually take lunch at 11:00. Yesterday I could not take lunch until 12:00 because I was unloading a truck. Just as I got into my truck to leave to go to lunch I see another big rig outside the gate. I left to go to lunch anyway. I had someone coming in at 1:00 so this was going to be the only chance I had to go. Well, I got about one mile out the gate then I get a phone call. I had to cancel my lunch plans and head back to help someone out. Just as I am about to enter the compound I get another phone call about the truck that needs to be unloaded. I get there and one of the guys who had made the comment that he was my back-up was standing next to the truck. I didn’t have time to unload the truck because I had to help the other guy out who called me first. So I said to him, “You said you were my back-up. Well, back me up.” I walked away. The poor little baby didn’t unload the truck he walked away and someone else had to do it. He then went to my boss and complained. Then I had to stay late (on my own time) because there was supposed to be someone come to pickup a pallet of stuff going to Oregon. Needless to say that guy never showed up. I never did get a lunch break.

I have to stay late tonight because I have a truck coming in to pick something up going to Austin, TX. If I were a real prick, like one of my supposed backups, I would have told this guy to come back on Monday. But I am not that way. It is not the trucker’s fault we don’t have any overtime and our work day ends at 2:30. At least I got a phone call telling me he was going to be late. I don’t know how many times I get home and get a phone call telling me there is someone here making a delivery causing me to make a trip back here to take care of it.

When I am gone and a truck comes in it takes 3 people from the front office to unload it and park the cars that came off. Does anybody do the paperwork or separate the keys and put the spares in the key machine? NO. I have to do all that when I get back. I had 7 trucks come in back to back to back and I was out in the 100+ degree heat for 4 hours strait unloading and parking and loading ones using a forklift to go to Texas. Did anybody from the front office come out to help? Hell no.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Well, Sandy, we all have probably been placed in situations like yours, and they are grossly unfair. Because of your strong work ethic, you will make the most of the bad situation. Nobody, especially the guy in charge of raises, will notice it, but you will, and the feeling from doing what's right can be awfully sweet. Nice work there, buddy.

I feel for you and really do understand

I cope with work by mentally and emotionally shutting down as I get closer to work.

At the end of the work day I emotionally and mentally come to life.

As you can easily guess, I have a full and interesting life away from work.

I have long since written off my workplace as an environment where
I might look for something beyond the mediocre. So, I just go through the motions. Surprisingly (I guess), that is all that management really wants of the staff.

Like you said, "it isn't right"...but at least you have a job and lots of people don't. Life is a beech sometimes.

I'm fortunate in the fact that I can take my frustrations out on people at work as I can use them for cannon fodder.

why don't you tell that guy that said he was your back-up that you think he's a wuss and ask him why a woman is the only one in the place that can get anything done?
then go talk to the boss about what a wuss the guy is and that you'd appreciate a little help from the guys that "have your back"?
as far as the idiots that put the stuff in the back of the truck, good luck. those guys will be doing that lazy crap long after we're both in the dirt. suggest to the boss that the trucks all be inspected for that stuff before they leave the yard as it's much cheaper than a lawsuit from an injured driver when the stuff flys onto the highway.
if you don't have to work this weekend, have a cold one and forget those jokers till monday!
if you do, sorry. let them have both barrels when you get to work!

First you need to document all the hours you work off the clock. It's illegal to work off the clock for free. Talk to your Labor Board for details.

Your Boss needs to establish job standards where everyone will know what there jobs are.
If you have a good relationship with the boss or owner ask to meet with them and explain your situation.

Sadly workers are a dime a dozen right now with so many people unemployed.
The best thing to do is document your time in case you or they terminate your employment there.

Trust me they can be made to pay you for every second you've worked off the clock and then some.
So contact your state labor board with out giveing them your name and place of employment to find out what you need to do about working off the clock and the other crap you need to talk to your boss.

Show up, get your paycheck, keep container of Ramen noodles in a drawer just in case you don't get lunch. Go home, forget about the place. Be glad you don't work with a bunch of idiots and a micro manager for a boss. Oh, and let battery run down in cell phone every once in a while.

Well done Billy,
Got me laughing again this morning.

Sandy Pockets.............hang in there, I can empathise with you, sounds similar to what I go through every day. I've got about 70 (multi-national) guys here and don't know how many of them cope without their mothers holding their hands.
I'll go along with what Bunny Rabbit says, forget to charge your cell phone now & again.

You want to know what excuse is used as to why no one helps me out. They say I am intimidating. I can only guess that I am intimidating because I think when I do something. I don’t have to be told how to do everything I do. I am able to see something and figure out how to do it without someone holding my hand every step of the way. Here is an example. Someone is given the task of sorting paperwork to be filed. He completes the sorting and that is it. When asked why he isn’t filing the paperwork he says that he was not told to file. Instead of taking the blinders off and seeing what has to be done next he just sits there with his thumb up his ass waiting to be told what to do.

I don’t have to be asked someone if they need help. If I see someone doing something that could use an extra hand I jump in and give him that extra hand. But do you think that courtesy is ever offered to me? Hell no! I was carrying an awkward parts cabinet once and saw someone look right at me and he didn’t even offer to help me. He just walked away. It is not that the cabinet was very heavy but it was large and awkward.

While doing one part of my job I get pretty dirty and since I am out in the hot sun while doing it I get pretty sweaty. Do you think one of the desk princesses will come out and get dirty. NOT. I had one of the princesses “helping” me once. We have to remove a certain piece of equipment from the vehicle before it can leave the premises. I had her “sanitizing” one of the vehicles and she kept saying that the piece of equipment was not in the vehicle. Well guess what? I moved the seat forward and low and behold what did I find? If I have to go in after you and check your work and find something there that should not be there what is the point in you doing the job in the first place. Another time I came back from a vacation and there was a note on one of the sets of keys stating that the piece of equipment was not in the vehicle. You guessed it. I opened the back door of the vehicle and there it was plain as day. Then another moron asked her, “Isn’t that the one where the back door was locked?” I didn’t say it but I thought, “Hey dumbass why didn’t you unlock the back door so you could open it?” That is what I did. It ain’t rocket science.

All my life I've heard...Your to good for your own good. The good guy comes in last.
I've suffered many times from people being jealous of me for winning awards for high achievement and sales contest.
Because of it I rarely recieved help when needed and I have had my work sabatodge more times than I can remember.
Oddly Managers were even against me because they feared I was in line to get there jobs if they were canned.

All I wanted was to provide for my family and I felt I had to make money for who I worked for.
I was a very meek and humble person just do'in my job.

Many times I have cried and prayed to God to help due to the pressure.

Today I am a bitter person when I think back to these times and could very easily now kick some azz.
I have a chip on my shoulder that I try to control and with the Lords help I'll get over over it some day.
I had my carrer stolen from me by sorry people describe here by you.

It's been hit and miss ever since.

S.P I wish you luck in your job and I'll be praying conditions get better for you, it did'nt work for me but I'm still seeking my place in life so maybe someday I can be happy in a job again.

Continue to be good at what you do though it's hard and just pray to the Lord that he'll help carry the Yoke your carrying....Mike
