Here is the question what do you think about Champion Gun Sights National Match front sight?
Here is a link.
M1 Garand NM National Match Front Sight .062" Wide Post - eBay (item 250515845866 end time Oct-24-09 13:47:43 PDT)

Do you have any other suggestions as far as a sights go?
Thanks for any input.

Do you have a match grade rear sight on it already? If not I would install the rear MG sight first. I really think they are a great improvement over the standard flat sight. They take a bit of work to install but they really help you eye focus better downrange I think due to the hooded design.

Check Fulton Armory. I got a set of NM sights from them pretty reasonably. The rear sight can be tricky to install but if you go slow and have patience it will be a piece of cake!

My rear sight is fine mechanically, so would I just need the aperture?

The advantage of the MG rear sight is not only the hooded sight but the much tighter tolereances of the teeth agianst the gears on the adjustment knob that move the sight up and down Meaning it fits very tightly and stays put. They come a bit oversized and you have to slowly file down the teeth until the adjustment knob moves smoothly.

Whoa....so if I get a National Match rear sight assembly I have to file on it before I use it? Man I may stick with my old but reliable GI sights. lol

The stoning and fitting is much scarier to hear about than it is to actually do. All you need is a diamond lapping stick available from most sporting goods stores or an Arkansas stone (fine) or some fine sandpaper on a flat block. Take it slow and make fine adjustments. Really not as hard as it seems at first.

Heck, I did it!
