my new Cetme = excellent

Got my new Cetme from Century today. I have to say I was somewhat apprehensive after all the bad talk I had read on them.

It was very well finished. Neat welds. Bolt gap of .009. No grinding on bolt. Bolt measured 1.835.

I wasn't crazy about the mag loader they sent with it. The G3 mags didn't fit it (I think). G3 mags seem to fit better in the mag well than the Cetme mags.

16" barrel was new chrome lined. Function was perfect. Fired 4 rounds of Barnaul (it was after dark but I wanted to check function).

Needless to say I am very happy and think it will make an excellent rifle. I would not hesitate to buy another one.

Great value! Looks like Century is paying a little more attention to detail. Good luck with your new Cetme!

Welcome to the forum, Leftoutside. I have a CETME myself and I have the opposite problem: G3 magazines don't get along with my magazine well. Load original CETME mags, and she's happy as a clam.

I also have heard it said G3 mags and CETME mags are interchangeable - but I often wonder if it's a case of the G3 accepting CETME mags but not vice versa. Can anyone shed light on this? As I simply run mine with CETME magazines, I can't say for sure.

I could never get the curved CETME magazines to seat properly and went to the straight HK magazines and all 20 I have seat easily and function just fine.

Century uses the exact same receiver to cobble up their HK and CETME builds. They also play fast and loose with tolerances. Sometimes, the magwells aren't quite right, and sometimes the mag latch is a bit off. If possible, grind a bit on the magazine to make it fit, not the rifle. If the mag does not come up quite enough, it requires a bit of filing on the tops of the limiter bumps (those two or three bumps on the sides of the mag box).
My CETME works well - both CETME and HK alloy mags work.

She sure does look nice! Looks just like my old one! There is alot of bad stuff floating around about them, but I didn't ever have any big issues with mine. They're just like ever other rifle really. If you shoot it enough, it'll fail. But, , mine wasn't ever too hard to repair. Good luck and enjoy owning one! They're a real blast! Welcome to G&G!
