anyone used a KAC XM110

since i live not that far from where kac is based i was thinking of heading over there and seein what i could see.
its the new weapon system that is replacing our old beloved m24 and i was curious if anyone here has had a chance to get hands on with it

they are based in titusville florida which is where the shuttle launches from so i could probably convince the wife without much trouble =)

Hope you go and come back with a report.I have often wondered why they didn't use the AR system based on what I have seen at the range (using AR types, never saw a xm110 in action) and after looking into it,found they have been since 2005 to some extent. There is quite a bit of info if you put kac xm110 on your search. ,,,sam.

I would say that the Below are the reasons why.
Especially the items in Red.

Capabilities:
  • Rapid fire/rapid reload, suppressed sniper rifle
  • Exceeds rate-of-fire and lethality of M24 SWS
  • Reduced weight
  • Primarily anti-personnel at ranges equal to or greater than M24
  • Includes enhanced sniper spotting scope system
  • Folding detachable bipod
  • 5-,10-, and 20-round capacity detachable magazines
  • Barrel life greater than 5,000 rounds
  • Variable power day optic scope
  • Detachable weapon suppressor
  • Hard transportation/storage case
  • Integrated Mil-STD 1913 Rail
  • Deployment and cleaning kits
MK11 / SR 25 Sniper Rifle / XM110 7.62mm Semi-Automatic Sniper System (SASS)#

As you can see...it ain't a bad looking critter

But I don't see how it could possibly be "better than the Barrett".
I'm sorry, but .50 cal trumps 7.62 all day long.

yeah the thing about the barret was that you still had to carry around an M4 for anything that got to close and was a real pain in the ass having to carry more equipment around and switch between the 2 depending on how things went . That i believe is the true intent of this weapon.
to make life easier and be dual purpose , no matter how they word it for the catalog.
with the way technology has improved over the years i can understand why they would allow us to get away from the m24/m14 platforms but i do hope that they continue to use bolt action in school .
its kinda like training on a seneca for pilots versus the new DA40. the senica requires that you learn Prop control where the new school diamond aircraft control it for you automatically which is nice but not everyone will be flyin glass in a first rate company out of flight school .
