Thumbs up The "Thrill" of the "hunt"

Anybody else get excited when ya find a new place to hunt? I just got permission to hunt a 30 acre parcel....prime deer area, heavy cover, good stand sites, only ten miles of blacktop from my house...only 1 mile from my parent's, ZERO hunting pressure, no one's hunted it in at least 8 years...I am stoked to say the least!

I have been depressed...my hunting spot has always been my uncle's farm...550 acres of prime deer hunting. This year my aunt and he divorced...and I got notice that I wasn't allowed access anymore, He'd been my "uncle" since I was 13...and my nephews, wife, and I got our first deer on that farm...

I had been trying to find some spots, exploring public areas and such...I am excited about having a nice property come open and being able to hunt without worrying about crowd pressure and some yahoo shooting me in the back!

That 30 acres hunted properly should be ample for my wife and I to tag some freezer meat this year! And the best part of new ground is the anticipation of that "monster" that may be lurking in there!

I am setting my stands and doing a quick hunt this weekend...by the time I get back from Cali it'll just be about a week until rifle Opener.

Not to put my uncle in law in a bad light..he's a good man in a tough situation. He didn't want my cousins over there and I feel his decision was partly based on not wanting to create bad blood between my family. He knew allowing me solo access would cause a stink with his stepkids and the other cousins. I still have a friendly relationship with him...as much as I can without pissing off my aunt and cousins, divorce aint easy on anybody! (it wasn't an amicable divorce as ya'll can probably tell)
