Gunnin for ungulates...

Goin back up into the doghair timber that consists of Lodgepole pine today for elk. Everybody wish me luck. Dad got the jump on a bull in the same patch of timber we usually hunt a few days ago and was about 20yds from him but didn't have a shot. So wish us luck ladys and gents. I hope I come back with some wapiti.

Well, I'm probably too late to tell you "good luck" today, so I'll just hope you haven't told us how it went 'cause you're still busy taking that elk apart.

Nothin, elk are actin wierd. Usually with the amount of shots we heard today they'd be bustin timber apart headin out way to get off the face, I mean hell some of the shots we heard were down in Poison Creek Canyon and we were up on the ridge overlooking that. Still the elk didn't move. They hole up tight as a tick in that timber and don't move which is strange for them. Went to this cabin and hung out with these guys we know and played some cribbage (got me arse handed to me with tongs out of a fire) drank some beer and had some breakfast bacon, eggs over easy and toast all cooked in the same pan and some home fries. Other than that the day was pretty uneventful. I'm definately getting in shape fast haha. Finally got the pants I ordered almost a month ago just this past thursday and man are they nice. Ordered them from Click on Botach Tactical and they are comfy. The name of the mfg is Propper and I got the Battle Rip Stop Pants. They were like blue jeans but much lighter weight and hold heat better when they need to and let it off when they need to. I highly suggest these. Other than that, just another fine day up in the Big Horns above beautiful Buffalo, WY.

My son and I camped in the Big Horns a few days before heading to Douglas for some antelope hunting some time back. Camped at Crazy Woman lake(I think). Spent a night in Buffalo as it had snowed on us. Neat country.

I love the Bighorns too. I've been in them three times which is pretty good for a PA boy. I love the walk to the medicine wheel.

Rambo you're talkin about Crazy Woman Canyon, you and Moose ought to come out sometime and I'll take you guys to a Buffalo Jump...where the Indians would run buffalo off a rimrock cliff about 100 or so feet in the air. Its pretty cool.

These old indian sites have always interested me !! I stood on the cliff where Geronimo jumped his horse to elude the soldiers of FT Sill, OK. His grave is a short drive from there.

Thanks buddy, I'll sure need it the way the elk are acting this year. As for Geronimo thing not sure but I would guess thats prolly it. Or the Soldiers yelling his name after he jumped?
