Do you still have to jump through the flaming hoops if i go pick it up?

No flaming hoops, just basic paperwork to prove you're an American citizen of legal age. Info is on their website. Stuff like driver's license, birth certificate, social security card, CCW permit, etc. and I think you need to show that you're a member of an organization that's on their list. But some membership on gun forums will satisfy that requirement. I know www.co-ar15.com does.

There is a list of clubs on the CMP website http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/clubSearch.cgi
The GCA is a good one

the easiest club affiliation in my opinion is The Garand Collectors Association

The Garand Collectors Association is a great source of knowledge, and Orion 7 Enterprises Inc. is a great resource for parts, as well as full rifles. The owner is also a board member of the GCA and a fountain of knowledge.
