Using a bullseye no larger than 1" and 240gr sp,if sighted dead on to 1/2"high at 25yds should put you about 2",s high at 100yds,5"to 6"low at 200yds,and 32"low at 300yds.I have no experience with LR bullets but would guess they are just a shade better than this, possibly about 2"to 3",s low at 200yds and 20",s low at 300yds. ,,,sam.
you know Sam if this lever gun is open sight the ammo is not going to be the problem, the problem will be hitting anything past 200 with the rifle, I could safely assume that 300 is off limits to the average hunter, plus to factor in 25 to 30 inches of drop with open sights is gonna be hard

I'd take the scope off and put an aperture sight on, sight it for bang on at 40-50 and go kill a deer. If your average range is 50 or under there is no point what-so-ever to have it sighted for 100 yard zero, in fact it would be counter productive. If only a head shot presents itself at 40-50 and your sighted to 100 would mean your high at that range, hard to work that one out fast.

I'm in the process of sighting my scope in for about 30 yards.I ran out of ammo, but I am close,I only need a few more bullets to bring my group over about 3" at 30 yards. My groups are about 1" at 30 yards right now.
Wire Kiwi Guy in OZ - If you're sighting in a .444 1.5" high at 100 yards, you're going to be nearly bang on at 40-60 yards anyway, as your bore sits roughly 1.5" below your sighting apparatus. Hey, did you turn the lights out when you left ?
