Win 1888

Coworker of mine asked me to look up some info on a gun of his, doesn't have internet. Any info would be appreciated.

Here's the details he gave me:

1888 was the manufacturing date

hex or oct barrel

shoots .22 shorts but you can fire longs if you load it 1 at a time

any more info won't be had 'til Wednesday if you need more.

Are you talking about a single shot, pump,or lever action Winchester .22?What is he using to determine that as a manufacturing date?

He said it's a pump but needs to look closer for another date.

He's probably got one of these Appraise your Winchester 1890 Gun, Rifle, Value, Production Dates The patent dates on top of the barrel have nothing to do with what year the rifle was made which sounds like what he's looking at.
