I have not done a whole lot of elephant hunting here lately and I haven't taken down a major gang of BGs in a gunfight in simply months! So, my real utliliztion of my guns lately has been to dispatch unwanted critters from my yard and garage. Mostly little slithery critters. We have snakes here and it seems they are all Copperheads. Some of the smaller ones have occasionally slipped into the garage, even though we keep it closed. I keep the garage heated so I think they are headed for the warmth.
I have developed a battery of working guns to take care of this yeoman's work. The top one is a NEF pardner youth model in .410 bore. The bottom one is a Crickett that my grandkids outgrew. I mounted a Center Point Laser on it.
The shotgun, loaded with 7 1/2 shot, is for outdoors in the yard and the Crickett , loaded with rat shot is for inside the garage. I have sighted in the .22 at 12 feet and get a pretty effective pattern. They are not awesome by any means, but they get fired more for real (at a living target) than any other gun I own. I wouldn't use the .22 rat shot on any of the bigger snakes, but they haven't been getting into the garage so they are .410 bait anyways.
I have a nice assortment of firearms as well in the collection. Including ARs, AKs, bolt rifles, pump shotguns, semi auto handguns in different platforms and wheelguns,With the exception of my M44 Mosin which I honestly dont really like shooting a lot (Its a bit of recoil to shoot a lot for little ol me lol) I usually bring out my primary defensive carbine and handgun to the range Plus a different platform which I rotate every range trip to stay proficient with the workings, and fundamentals of each.
Many of my guns get fired often. I EDC with a TN HCP and I fire my carry weapon weekly at the indoor range. I practice with a S&W 317 into a Champion Bullet trap in my garage, usually daily. But that is practice shooting. Outside of hunting seasons, The little guys are still the only guns that get fired at a living target on a fairly regular basis. I own 24 firearms, but most repose in the gunsafe, get fired at a live target once a year or are fired at paper/clays from time to time. The two least expensive firearms I own are really the only guns that are earning their money throughout the year in actual use. With all our concern for our uber-guns, yes I have a few and love them, we sometimes forget that a gun can still be a real tool around the homestead and that many times it will be a strictly plain-jane, simple weapon.

ive actual looked at geting the rossi youth model rifle that has the interchangable barrel's in .410/.22lr... it would make an nice addition to a bob...

I second that emotion!
Actually the two guns you have there would be what I would reach for when I think about 'survival'. Both of those guns are capable of feeding and defending a household from 98% of situations people will run into should society come tumbling down. Utility is more PC than Militant and that could be the key to surviving too.
My "Do-All" gun is a tattered Savage 24V .22 Mag/20 ga. which I have ruined the day of more than one woodpecker looking to ventilate my parents old home.
If there was anything else to add to your collection, I might say a centerfire handgun; to keep in the style, maybe a single action .357 Magnum like a Ruger Blackhawk?

rossi also makes a 12g/.223 or 12g/.308 i like both of those as an option two... now if they made it a 12g/7.62x39 or 12g/7.62x54r that would be awesome...

I shoot competivly with a Kimber 45 acp and a Bushmaster M4A2.
The Bushy in the last 4 years has run 6K in ammo.
Backup guns behind those. I learned a long time ago that guns break at the worst time. My gun smith almost always has at least one of mine in his safe.
The rule is if it breaks fix it with something better.
The last was the buffer. I installed a hydrolic buffer in the M4. Slows down the cyclic rate and lessens recoil.
Who makes the combo gun in 22lr, 410, and 243 ?? Rossi ?? Now that's a cheap combo for do all compatability !!
You're correct I believe it's a Rossi "Trifecta". I've been thinking of picking one up fro a couple months now. Or it maybe .22lr, 20ga, .243....either way fun times.

These are my two most favorite and the two that get the most use. I carry the circa 1918 Colt Model 1911 using CTG and 185 Gr. HP. The M1 Carbine is from 1943, slightly modified gets used every day ( not shot every day ) but carried....it contains Corbon DPX Ammo. Both of these old war horses do a great job protecting my home,my property and my butt.
I do have other weapons, but these get the most work out of them all.....and are the most fun to shoot.

What do u do that you need to carry your m1 carbine EVERY day?
Copperheads in the garage is a BAD thing! Had a friend reach under his porch last year and come out with a copperhead attached to his forearm. Had to go to two hospitals for anti-venom, missed 6 WEEKS of work. He was a REAL sick dude.
