The management pulled the cheesecake after they got a bunch of emails from shooters complaining that while they had no problem looking at beautiful women with guns, they had a great deal of problem with looking at beautiful women with guns who were in no way, shape or form handling said guns safely. The anti-gunners, had they ever stumbled over that site, would have (forgive me the pun) found lots of ammunition to support their campaign in those photos.

My personal opinion on the matter, I actually had this conversation with my little bro a couple weeks ago, who being the Army guy he is said that in a senario like that he would want an AR, myself on the other hand went the opposite direction.
The Mosin rifle is the perfect survival tool. If you decided to roll with a Mosin as your SHTF rifle I think you would probably be well served.
Two Spam cans is alot of ammo especially for a bolt rifle. Think about how much ammo you are going to expend per engagement or hunting trip, ect.
With a semi auto you will no matter what experts say expend much more.
I would guess if you were to expend 10 rounds with your Mosin the guy with the AR/AK would probably be expending double or triple that.
Move onto maintenance, with a Mosin there is very little, of course that is the same with an AK, but the Mosin is a much simpler weapon.
The Mosin has been combat tested more than any military bolt rifle ever has I would guess as well making it ideal in any climate. The Mosin also fires a full power round giving it better range and penetration than a mid range caliber. Think about the Afgan/Soviet war and the sniping the Russians faced.
I think if you were careful and fought under your own circumstances and ran from engagements where at short range you were out gunned you would do ok. Strike when you have the advantage and run when you dont. Look at the Balkan conflict, urban fighting, Mausers, Mosins, and other long rage rifles doing alot of it. Not because they are ideal weapons for it, but beause eventually thats what that type of conflict becomes.
So, I would feel just fine rolling with a Mosin.

i want a lever-mosin how would i explain THAT one....doubt it'd be easier than the crate purchase....only time i bought a crate was when i went in with 15 other people at my gun range and the price was $1100 for the crate versus the over $2k now.
