I need another, what should I get?

so thats right I'm thinking I need a new mosin what one should I get currently I have an izzy 91/30 and my favorite ("sanitized") 91/59 <--I love the 91/59 I have some cash and thought I should buy a modern bolt action but then I opened my safe and saw my mosins and quickly realized the errors in my ways.

but yeah personally I'm not into the rare ones(early tulas and Remingtons and new england...etc.) but am into the good bores and shooters, I thought about getting a sniper one but am unsure on how they shoot... so yeah help a comrade out.

Personally I'd like to get a Tula 91/30 or a laminated stock 91/30. Of course an M38 would be nice too.

I watched Enemy at the Gates again last night and noticed the guy with the steel teeth (can't think of his name right now) had a lammy stocked sniper, that really got me thinking of building one.

M38 or M44. You don't have either yet, so both would be good.

You could check out some of the Finn Mosins. The M39s are one of the best shooting MN rifles. Hard to beat those. They aren't super rare, but it would be an excellent addition to anybody's collection of Mosins.

You said you are most interested in a good shooter, as compared to collecting Mosin variations (or at least I'm inferring that from your saying you aren't so much interested in an early Tula or a Remmington) - so I'll second the recommendation for a Finn. An M39 with a good bore, though it will set you back more than another 91/30, will be an excellent shooter.

Think Finn if you want the best shooter.

My M39 is the best of my bunch, followed by a Finn SA stamped barrel 91/30, then my 91/59.

sorry for the late reply..unfortunately R5CYA, I will not be able to buy the m39 you got because I pulled the trigger on buying a 91/30 sniper...I couldnt resist it i saw it and said "enemy at the gates" then took out the bolt and look at the bore, it was in great shape so I bought it...I will get some pics up after 11 day waiting period(california)...and again sorry R5CYA I cant ever seem to resist buying a gun when I have(had) the money.

"... personally I'm not into the rare ones(early Tulas and Remingtons and New England, etc.) but am into the good bores and shooters... "

I've got to agree with the guys who are saying your next Mosin after the 91/30 sniper (which, I hate to tell you, is probably a modern Ukrainian modification of a good-shooting 91/30 to Great Patriotic War sniper configuration with modern-made scope mount and scope on it - an entrepreneur bought the original manufacturing equipment from the Russian government in the 1990s, set it back up and started making original specification scopes and mounts on the original equipment; which still makes it as close as you'll get to one that can be documented as having been issued to a Soviet sniper on the Russian Front) ought to be a Finnish M39. Try for one with a Sako B barrel; they are supposed to be the very best of the Finns, none of which are slouches.

Or if you are lucker than anyone has a right to be, you might run across a Finnish M85. That's the modern Finnish Mosin rebuild that looks like what you'd get if an Anschutz Olympic target rifle had a one night stand with an M28. They didn't make a whole lot of them, but a few have made it over here. I think the reason only a few have been imported is because they're still being issued as sniper rifles to the Finnish Army.

Well, you now have a couple of really accurate Mosins to dream about. I know I do. Of course, it's getting harder and harder to conceal the collection from Her Imperial Majesty....

Right now, a Finn M-39 Tikka Hex receiver service rifle in what looks like unissued condition with a pristine B-barrel bore is the only Mosen I have. I would like a Russian Mosin Model 91/30 in as close to excellent condition as possible. I really need to look around and not jump on impulse. There seems to be a lot of that going on these days. My collection of World War II rifles is one of those "one of each" collections without any duplication (except for a preponderence of Garands and '03s).
