well that depends on many variables. If a person was 6' tall with good vision and standing on the beach where the water meets the sand and was looking straight out then you would be able to see 7 miles. on land you can see further. Why? anyone?

Well, at sea level your horizon is 7 miles away. If there is nothing on the horizon, that's all you can see.
On land you can see the top of a tall mountain much, much farther away. I remember some days in New Mexico where I could see mountains that were 70 or more miles away.

I considered that at one time but when I went in their shop they were all wearing glasses & trying to sell the benefits of Laser surgery to me???
WTF...........if it's not good enough for them, it wasn't good enough for me! I'll stick with my glasses.

Well, I can see stars that're many billions of light years away, so rounding it off at 10 billion light years I'd say about....58,745,899,242,040,000,000,000 miles. And yes, I actually spent the time to figure that out....

Unless my calculations are flawed, I can see 2.972541717939 million light years on a clear day with no moonlight and the temperature at 0 F. Give or take a few hundred feet.
