All copper bullets??

I've been experimenting with my new deer rifle and factory loads to see what it spits out the best. While looking, I saw Hornady's GMX's all copper bullets. The price was decent and I thought about getting them, but whats the benefit? And if the only benefit is no toxic lead, then are there significant drawbacks?

I shoot all-copper 405's (Hornady 300gr TSX Flat Base) and find no drawbacks yet.

Although I have not researched that particular bullet, my experience is with solid copper is that it is harder than lead, thus leading to less expansion if any. So you may not have the terminal performance that you would with lead.

Swede, do you find any worse copper fouling in your gun? I've read reports of it being worse, but the way I see, whats the difference between copper jacketed versus all copper. The amount of copper contact with the bore should be the same with either.

Here in california in some places you have to use all copper bullets and I hear great things of them except the price.

I've kind of wondered about that myself. I wonder is the copper in the solids are softer somehow? I dunno....I just don't know enough about em to understand em yet......

Lots of good info here, look around some. I've been thinking about loading some in my X39 ammo, but the price is holding me back,it would definately be hunting ammo use only.

I have not experienced any additional fouling as of yet.
