standard model front sight

I put Millet adjustable rear sights on my 2 Ruger standard pistols but the factory front sights are too low. I have seen longer front sight blades but I can't find any for sale. does any one know where I can get some? thanks Mike

yes I have checked those sources. they have front sights for everything but the standard model .22 auto. I know someone makes them because I have seen pictures of the pistols with taller front sight blades. unless they were home made which is probably what I will have to do

blaster- I did another search, and can only find original replacements. You might try posting your question over at rimfire central. Also, you could email Millet and pose the question to them.

I think the Millett sight co is going through some kind of changes. a while ago I was trying to order a sight for a 1911 to have Seabee Scotty install on a CZ 52 slide. I tried every where to find one and no one had them. I tried to order several other Millett models with no luck. while looking for these Ruger sights, I even asked Brownells to special order for me and they couldnt. all correspondence to Millett goes to Bushnell and I am not abel to speak to a human and there is no Millett number to enter in the recording. I wonder if Bushnell is phasing out Millett? too bad, over the years I have installed several on different guns and was very satisfied with them.

Is the Ruger front sight that goes with the adjustable target style rear the same one? My Mark 1 Target came with nice adjustable sights, but I remember the undercut front was very hard on the holster when I was hunting squirrels with it. If it's a different unit, that might work for you.

thanks for that info Teach, I think the rear sights I bought were for use on the target model because they sit so high on the reciever. that would make sense if the target model front sight is taller. I saw in the millett catalog that the sights I bought also came as a combo pack with a new front sight. probably for people like me that wanted adjustable sights on a fix sight pistol. Brownells only listed the rear sight so I assumed that it was ok to use the factory front sight. now I will try a Ruger factory front made for the target model.

update- i got the target model front sights from Brownells and they wont work! they have a ramp that screws on to the barrel. the standard model's sight blade is pinned on with no ramp. the schematic that I got the part number from didnt show that difference or I would not have ordered them. I'm now thinking about making them myself out of some aluminum flat bar stock if I can find the right thickness.

Send it back to Brownells. I have been told by them that there is nothing that you can't send back. It is a hassle, but they will do the best they can to make it right. As long as it isn't modified or altered. Brownells has great service.
