pheasant season

Well, pheasant season is coming up and I'm getting excited. I was just wondering if anybody has been seeing birds. I've seen one rooster all summer. Hopefully there's some out there. It may take a while to start seeing them with so much corn up, though.

No pheasant around my property for about 4 years now! Dang coyotes... keep killing them and killing them... I miss pheasant hunting... whole area used to be good, game warden told me that the red tailed hawks are over populated and will kill pheasants too.

best of luck... post some pics!

Only ones I know of around are the pen released they hunt down and sand ridge state forest, Jim Edgar, etc.. When I was a kid & we could still hunt RR tracks, I remember seeing a few.

You guys make me miss my dog.
A few years ago I put my shorthair down. Had her for 13yrs.
I would take her to chain o lakes state park for pheasant lottery dates
and times would go on stand by for cancellations.
She would never pick-up birds but shed hold point til I kicked the damn bird to flush.
I miss those days.
Im not even sure if the chain has hunting anymore?
Hunt clubs in my parts are outrages price to join.
I shoot skeet now. Cleaning clay pigeons is a lot less messy.

Finally went hunting saturday. Went to some property near a hunting club. Must have seen 15 birds along the road on the way to the creek. Ended up flushing 6 and hitting 3 but we could only find 2 without a dog.
