| Police following school busses
Don't know how many of you heard about this but a little 7 year old girl named Somer Thompson was recently kidnapped and murdered in Orange Park FL. The town she was killed in is in the next county to the south of us. Mant many parents are fuming over this and are keeping a closer eye on their children because the scumbag that did this has not been caught. Today I was getting the mail about the same time my oldest Son was getting off the bus. I noticed a Sherrifs department car behind the bus. After looking at the deputy inside I noticed it was one of my neighbors. I went over to see how he was and he told me that they now have a deputy follow the school busses on their route and watch the kids walk home. Although it is horrible that times have come to this but I think it is great that the Police are taking an active role in ensuring that kids are safe. He also told me that they are watching convicted sex offenders very very closely. Just figured I would share this with you guys. He went on to tell me that most of the officers doing this are off duty and doing it voluntarily.
