.340 Mark V value questions

I've got a friend that owes me some money and wants to trade off a 1970's vintage Mark V in .340 Weatherby Mag. He is afraid of the gun and can't shoot it worth a damn anyway. Ball park on value? It's in about 95% condition and is high(ish) grade. He owes me $1300 and wants me to take the gun instead. I was thinking more like a grand? I want to be a little more than he would get at a gun store, But less than retail as I'm doing him a favor and don't need another rifle, especially in .340 Weatherby. I've already got a .300,.338 and .375H&H.

80% is 650.00, 90 % shape is 775.00 . 95% is 1,050.00 , 98% is 1,375.00.
Trouble is Nobody seems to want Weatherby calibers now due to the Cost
of Ammo...

Mooseman made a really valid point

Weatherby ammo costs are just beyond belief!!!!!!!

Discounting for the ammo cost factor I, personally, would not offer over
$500.00 for the gun. I know that might stagger each of you.
