I tried my strippers out, and all they did was scratch up my cases, and pretty significantly too. I'm going to stick to loading by hand. The strippers for my Mauser never did that to my 8mm ammo. Of course, the 8mm strippers only grab the rim, the Mosin strippers grab the whole damn case.

They're a light gray color, they're made of metal, probably sheet steel and on the bottom, in the exact middle, they have the same Izhevsk triangle symbol as on both my rifles. That's about all I know about them. They do look as if they were used before, God alone knows when or where.

Paper! I grew up in central Illinois. WLS was always on the school bus radio.

Sorry I got off topic again. Back to it.

I read either here or on another forum that the new productions usually need a little deburring and sometimes a slight chisel line down the middle of the back. Just what my reading has turned up. I'm not getting stripper clips until I get my Mosin shootable or replaced.

HTH

It sounds like you have the new production clips that you can get from online sites, mine have the same triangle you were talking about. I had the same problem with the clips really gouging the sides of my shells, I could also hardly get them to load. I took one of the clips and stretched it by hand, a little at a time, I kept testing by inserting rounds into it and finally I got the clip the way I wanted it, the rounds fit a little looser on the clip but are secure and they slide easily now into the mag, I did this with all my new production cilps, you will however still have to raise that first round up as you push down. It takes a little getting used to but you can get it down. I love using stripper clips.
PS It is pretty tough on your fingers to stretch them that way so take time in doing it if you decide to.

Ordered 20 of these and they work fine. A few were a little tight, but easily tweaked so rounds slide through. I paid $2 for each pack of 5. 17 bucks for 20 including shipping.

On second thought, the only thing these are good for is stripping skin off your fingers.
