Best slug to use for the 12 gauge single shot

Does anyone know what the best slug to use for the Rossi 12 gauge single shot? I have attempted firing Federal bird shots and it misfired 8 of 50. I used a remington slug and would not fire at all. Fire 3 of 5 federal 3 in slugs, and fired 25 winchester birdshots without a single misfire. The birdshots and remington slugs were the 2.75 rounds. I am totally confused. I am going deer hunting. I want to get a slug that won't misfire from this gun. It is only 2 weeks old. When it doesn't misfire it shoots great.

remington primers are way to hard, winchester is great, i would use winchester 3" rifled slugs, get a big target and get about 25yards away and shoot 1, go see where it hit, none of my shotguns hit exactly where i have the bead, my 28" mossberg always hits a little high and to the right, so i just aim a little low and to the left. i see that this post is old and i dont know if it is even worth answering, but there it is. REMINGTON AMMO SUCKS!!!!

Mmmmm,

I have a Rossi 20 gauge rifled slug gun that has never misfied on any type ammo.

I suggest you get in touch with Rossi on this matter.

i got an old mossberg 500, and a new one. when shooting the old one the remington ammo sometimes would not go off, so i ejected the shell, and looked at the primer which had a very little dent in it, about 1 out 5 maybe would FTF, so i thought i had a weak hammer spring, and was planning on sending the trigger group in to get a new one installed, but when shooting the same ammo with my new mossberg, the same thing would happen 1 out of 5 would FTF, so i bought winchester ammo, have not had a FTF after 50 shells, and now all the primers have big deep dents in it. so i just use winchester
