Marlin 989-M2

Ok, saw one in a pawn shop today...couldn't resist...so I traded my 2005 Model 60 in so I could snag it cheap

The 989-M2 is in pretty darn good condition came with one small & one large magazine.

I'm happy
Looking forward to putting a few toys on it

I'm thinking a Rimfire Technologies 795-style trigger guard...Yeah, I know it won't cover the third hole, but I don't care I'll save the old one in case I ever get rid of it.

The front sight leaves something to be desired...heck, both sights do...but since it's a barrel wrap I can't use a Tech Sight unless I D/T it...so I might just leave the sights alone for awhile.

The stock is in Marvelous condition

And I need a few more mags...what's the highest capactiy mag that'll fit on a 989??

I've got a 989-M2 that would absolutely love a new stock if i could find one with the matching hand guard and tech sights would keep it happy too. Anyway, I've got a bunch of the 7 round mags for it and a 25 round clear plastic mag from Marlin. I don't know of any bigger.

It came with one 7-round mag, and one that I just put 13 in?
I think that should be a 15-rounder...but I'm not sure why only 13 fit.
I might have miscounted in my old age

I just got my Ramline stock in for a Model 70/795 about an hour ago & unpacked it
Now I've got to find a 70 or 795 to put in it

Shrek, check the mag box - I have two 15-round magazines for my Mossberg M-152 that I had the same trouble with one - turned out the box was dented just a bit. I stuck a tool down inside and managed to open it back out a bit, and polished the follower. Works fine now.

Numrich has 15 round mags for the 989-M2 for under $22.
I ordered a couple that should be here soon, I'll let you know how they work.
989-M2's are fairly rare so you may want to reconsider tricking it out.
I found one at a gunshow a few months ago after looking for one nearly thirty years...lol Of course, I bought it.

At this point, after much contemplation...I think the only thing I'm gonna do is paint a tiny white dot on the sight and get a leather GI strap for it.

Although, if I ever find a 99M1 sight at a reasonable price...I'll probably switch 'em out

The MAG thing...I found out that it's actually a 13-round mag!!!
Fairly rare, but out there. It's about two bullets shorter in height...
Turns out the 89-C/DL had those...
