I need some recommendations on a red dot type sight for an AR-15 with the handle, don't have a flat top. I would like something with the lowest profile possible, has to be durable, quick acquisition.
Something weird happened to my front sight when i turned 50. It got a little fuzzy. Used to clean the qual course, but that dang fuzzy front sight makes it tough. Glasses just for shooting aren't an option, and taking the time to find the sweet spot in my everyday glasses isn't either.
You could put an eotech or aimpoint on the front handguard's top rail, that would facilitate a sight picture (maybe an easier one with fuzzy sight) and you would still have your irons to co-witness targets...

Yep could use THIS to go that as well, only problem is if your hand guards wiggle a little (like mine did) then wont be the most accurate
Aimpoint C3 on a decent gooseneck mount.
Not cheap but very tuff and almost unbelievable battery life , measured in years.
Another option , maybe even better: Aimpoint on a high reciever-style mount but placed forward on a Daniel Defense Omega rail. Check the Omega reviews at Brownell's.
An Omega won't move if it's mounted right.
have you looked into those nifty fiber-optic front sight posts? i've sighted down them without my glasses on before and Mr Magoo could see the damn thing. Also, if you get the rail that drops into the top of your carry handle, make sure you buy the one with the tunnel through it so you can still use your iron sights if you need to...not all of those drop-ins are hollow.
