The overall length and barrel length of shotguns and rifles is regulated under the N.F.A or National Firearms Act of 1938.
Under federal law a Shotgun must have a Barrel length of at least 18" and an overall length of 26"
A Rifle must have a 16" barrel and an overall length of 26"
This was intended to prevent shotguns and rifles from being easily concealable.
This does Not count against folding stocks as to legal length.
When the assault weapons ban was sunsetted , Folding stocks were again allowed...

Cheaper than the AK pistol from J and G? Just curious. |
yeah i just saw that on J&G! i would love to have one, but not at that price.... i think that the one thing that makes me want one is the ammo it takes...... but no thanks at that price.....i dont think id pay more than $300 for one.
p.s thanks for clearing that up moose

An AK variant pistol with a drummy would do all that very nicely and would be (in my opinion) fun as hell to bump fire. How fun would a full auto pistol be? Just my $.02 Dont yell at me please!!

Rich | I was told by the most knowledgeable person i know. If they measure it, it will be folded. Hes a Class 3 dealer so his word carries much weight. He made calls to people of an official nature to boot. Who i dont really care, they all said its measured folded. Im just passing along first hand experience. I dont see why it wouldnt count against a folding stock the whole point of a folder is compactness, which makes it much easyer to hide.

If you think about it, when it's folded, it's no longer designed to be fired from the shoulder and is, in essence, a pistol with a really long barrel. Rifles, by definition, are designed to be fired from the shoulder, pistols are not. This is how the Serbu Super Shorty shotgun is able to be classified as an AOW, because it's technically a pistol, but has a short barrel and is a shotgun.
