I snagged one of the front sights he made a couple weeks ago and got it on my M38 today(I love freebies!). Took a little filling and I did take a little too much off. But I got a punch out and dented the sights dovetail in four places to flare it out some and it's on there pretty snug now. Can't move it with my hands. Hopefully it'll stand up to firing. If not, I'm gonna pay him to make me another! This thing is great! Has a much clearer sight picture and when I get it close to where I want, I'm going to narrow the very top slightly to make it more precise. I'm excited about this! I'm hoping it'll improve my sighting ability enough to use it as a short range deer rifle(no scope). Thanks jmeck! The rest of y'all should think about getting him to make you some. Doesn't change any original parts and doesn't require much work at all!
I will have to lower it a good bit. Where it is now would actually lower the poi. Lower the front sight, farther out the poi will be. The new one is around 21mm and the old one is just over 15mm from the bottom of the dovetail, so I'll be taking it down approximately 6mm. But I'm gonna do it slow so I don't take it down too much.

trimming or raising the front sight on a rifle to get a rifle zero'ed in at 100yrds.

Maybe if you send bobvonb a pm he will give you some pointers to speed up the process. You might also be able to raise the rear sight and get it zero'ed,measure how much its raised,and remove about the same amount from the front sight. Then move the rear sight back down to the 100 yard setting.......just a thought. Good luck!,and keep us posted.
100 yard range 20 feet from your back door? You lucky dog! I have to drive for an hour to shoot a 100 yards.

I can actually shoot about 200 yards if I go all the way back to the woods, but I have a pile of old logs piled up midway. Most of my shooting is closer to 50 yards, and I'm too lazy to walk all the way out there.
