About as many times as the guy who butchered an M39 to make that "sniper" rifle? The one who had zero bids at $1500, tried to get half that the second time, then finally realized he had an unsellable piece of doo-doo?

I wonder how people think they can get away with scams like this. Most people who collect mil-surps, or anything old for that matter, tend to know a bit about them and would recognize a fake. I highly doubt that someone who isn't a serious collector would throwout that kind of cash for any vintage rifle.

Just a little thread drift, Moose. Is it legal to remove the import marks from an imported firearm? I was under the impression that doing so is against the law. (I don't like the things any better than anyone else, especially the ones that look like they were done with a drill and not a proper stamping.)

For that kind of money, I could buy a really nice reloading setup, get into reloading, and still have enough money left to buy the Auto-Ordnance "Commando" Thompson carbine I want. And I could buy a couple of really good Finns with the residue, too!

I find it interesting that the seller has two or three pictures of non-Mosin ceremonial situations. Definitely doesn't know guns.

It is against the ATF rules to remove the Import Marks...But I have seen rifles that were polished out and reblued and the Import stamp was Polished off...

Moose, this topic keeps coming up, but I was under the impression that you can remove the importer's mark, but NOT the importer's assigned serial number. As long as the serial number remains intact, it should be legal.

Hmmm, i really wonder whats he trying to sell, the Mosin or that nice looking SKS in the bottom pics.........and for 2500 bucks too. You could convince me to buy that rifle if, say you took the zeros off. HAHAHA. Now i wonder how long its gonna take for the seller to latch on to us and start complaining like has been know to happen lately.

OK guys ...Look very carefully at the photos of the Parade...Then look at the guns he has in the pictures...do you see the difference???
The Guns are all CHROMED...Not Polished and even the front end and sights are chromed...NOT SELECTIVELY POLISHED.
IF that Mosin was a Parade Rifle , It would NOT have a Refurb Mark and It would Be fully Chromed INCLUDING the trigger , and the entire Barrel shank where all the stamps are...Also the stock would Not be dull "oiled Finish" and it would be Shiney shellac finished and more of an Orange color...

Very interesting! I hadn't noticed that. By the way, what is the group in slide number 17, with the blue uniforms?
