I love them off a bench at 100 yards at of my 870 3 shots will group just a little over 3". For my purposes in a deer gun that is more than accurate. Upon impact they expand as advertised. I do not think they are a reinvention of the sabot slug, but I have been happy with them and this will be my 2nd season using them. The 3" 12 gauge version will pack quite a punch of your shoulder, and does make me want a scope with more eye relief.

I believe you are talking about the newer Remington slugs that have the green plastic tips on the slug. If those are the slugs then I was not to happy with them, the accuracy was decent, nothing special, but it made my gun extremely hard to clean well. I think this is because the green plastic tip was burning in the barrel and depositing in the rifling. But I have no way to tell for sure. Personally i use Hornady slugs. I tried a bunch of the different slugs and i mean a bunch and these are what worked best for me.

I don't think it could be the tip that is burning in the barrel, but probably the plastic caseing that hold the slug. I have been thinking on setting up a 20ga for my step son. Anyone have any experiance with the lighter gauge?

Last year the 12 gauge ones were brand new, and the 20 gauge version is new this year. I know a lot of guys who prefer shooting a 20 gauge gun with many of the newer high performance sabot slugs.

I am happy with the 12 but I am not recoil shy. The 3" 12 gauge slugs packs a punch on both ends.
