I have always loved knives, and a Randall has always been on my list. Most of the ones I have come across have been grossly overpriced or have been in terrible shape.

I love knives too, Steve. I'm a knife accumulator not a collector. Around the place I carry a Cold Steel Voyager folder that I'm almost ashamed to say how badly I've abused it but the knife just keeps on keeping on. It's really tough and always there. Reminds me, I'd better sharpen it today.

My brother still has his Randall "bird & trout" knife from 1973. Will post a pic of it here soon. The knife has an Antler handle and is really misnamed as it is a 3 1/2 blade and is perfect for deer sized game and even larger. Randall knives are made with 01 Steel and heat treated to around 58 or 59 RC. Hold an edge extremely well, but will rust. If given proper treatment, a Randall will last through your Grandchildren and beyond.
Personally, I'd like to have a Jummy Lile, or a Kirby Wise. But as noted, they all too spendy for me right now. Saving my money for an Auto Ordnance Thompson Commando.
There is a guy who lives about 3 miles from here who has been making custom knives and designing blades for some of the high end mass manufacturers for years. You could buy a low end car for less than some of the knives he sells. He, too, has worked lined up for years. He just built a new log home, lake, and large shop on about 30 acres of land behind the farm of a friend of mine. And, before you ask, I can never remember his name.

I have an Uncle Henry folding knife that will gut and skin 7 deer before I start to notice it losing it's edge. All the men in my family have or had one. Not anymore as they are made in China and are junk. I purchased the last three at the hardware store made in America and am saving them for my grandsons.
Sad to say, I never heard of a Randall knife.
I got the Randal catalog last week and to say it's covered with slobber is a gross understatement in more ways than one. On the plus side, you only have to put $50 down now and you have until 2014 to get the rest gathered up. Man, are they nice.

Their is a 'custom' knife 'builder/maker' on this site "Romey"; go back to the knife section;
He has good knowledge; offers good simple explanations; 'a' good all around fellow
When you look at some of his will make you drool more
