"Why did al Qaeda hit us on 9/11?"

They feel we have corrupted the Muslim people. They still hold the crusades against Christians these people are all about revenge. If you read the old Testament the Jews killed all the men women and children. The reason for this is if they were allowed to live they were honor bound to kill in return. They feel we have corruped the men with alcohol and their women and children with western ways.
I think they attacked us to get us involved with their problems and to get more followers on their side. That is kinda how I see it. Osama and most of the other top guys aren't religious fanatics like most would think. They use religion as a way to brainwash their pawns into following them. These top guys live better lives than most people because they are in power. They get money, golden AK's, probably a lot of women, and what they want most of is power. I see them as kinda like gang members wanting power and control over the populace. I think they figured it would be a good way to gain control over more people by knowingly starting a war with America and the western nations. More and more Muslims are in the streets protesting the western way of life and more and more are joining these terrorist organizations. At least, that is how I see it. Most of the pawns are probably fighting for their god as they think but the head guys are fighting for more power and control. They like the idea of Shiria law because it is oppressive and gives them even more power over their subjects.

I think the main reason is for America's support of Israel. Other reasons are the fact that many consider us a Christian nation, pornography, drugs, and all the other bad things that America can produce, according to them. Ayatolla Kohmeni said that there was no fun in Islam. Maybe we have too much fun? Also, we America pulled out of Lebanon after the Marine barracks bombing, Osama Bin Laden said that America is a paper tiger. Why did they hit us? So many reasons. Presence in Saudi Arabia, and other Muslim countries. These radicals view America as a corrupting influence on other Muslim nations. We are the great Satan. When the Soviet Union was in Afghanistan, we were the lesser of the two Satans. We are number one now. Why? Because they could. They want to bring us down and convert the world to their twisted beliefs. Terrorists may hit on certain dates to comemerate other dates, events, revenge of what the enemy did on certain dates and so on. Each one is different and has different reasons. We didn't really retalitate for the barracks bombing, the first World Trade Center bombing, the embassy bombings in Africa, the USS Cole and so on. We didn't fight back and they thought we were easy. It is hard to pin down one specific reason for what and why they did it. Does this help?
ummm..... yes the greed for power was a major issue.... um.... i forget wat i was gonna say... feel dumb lol.... they were gettin back at us for something (i think?) cannot remember the whole issue.... i researched 9/11 for like weeks and weeks a while after it happened then... kinda ended up forgettin all the stuff i read

First, the US supports Israel, and it is our support that keeps the Arabs from wiping out the Jews.
Second, the US has repeatedly supported repressive dictators, one example is the Shah in Iran
Third, the young men are taught that the US is The Great Satan, and they hate us.
Partly because of our support of israel, the american air strips in arabia were mentioned, apparently they are close to some holy relic. I believe also partly in retribution for U.S. involvement in the conflict in the former yugoslavia. or it could be because they are crazy camel loving cave dwelling murdering fu<&heads.

Another little known fact is when Saudi Arabia needed help Bin Laden went to them and told him he could take care of the problem. The laughed at him and then brought US bases into the middle east. This really did not sit well with the fundametalist. They believe that non Muslims are "dirty" and just by being in the middle east they are comtaminated it. They also see us as the main suporter of Isreal which of course we are.
Like everywhere else, the Brits stepped in and stole their oil. We joined in. We ALL were seen as thieves in the night throughout the middleast. In addition, we were non- muslim. All of this became a cause to fight against.
Fundamental radicals have been teaching hate for Christians since the beginning of time. Our presence in their countries have only served to fuel the fire. Couple that with the large excesses we enjoy and export throughout the world, and you begin to see the base of the problems.
We installed Israel as a Nation State, and continue to finance them militarily. Their one true enemy on their soil !! And they have only us to blame.
I guess some could argue that all of this was not an orchestrated series of events. But I guarantee that they do not view it that way !!

But because of our influence throughout the world, and our riches (to them), we are the representative figurehead of all that is evil. That is why they chose us.

A lot of good answers all around, but you gave very good detail. and why on 9/11? they may have their own symbolic meaning for that. (emergency: dial 911) maybe the 11 was in reference to the twin towers, who knows. but they did it because they wanted to strike us hard on US soil and they figured out a way that they could. their goal is the destruction of Israel and the US which holds the might to back them up. and yes, they consider us the Great Satan. their goal was to collapse our ecomomy and watch us implode. but be aware, they WILL try again somehow. if we let our guard down even in the slightest, they will strike again.
