Talking marlin model 60 range report.

i've been trying to accurize my model 60 for the past few weeks and here's what i've found that the mod 60 doesn't like a completely free floated barrel, or full contact bedding, but it does like to be free loated with uppward pressure at the end of the forearm.

i also found that cleaning the bore spotless had a negative effect on accuracy, but shoots great after about 15 fouling rounds.

here's how it performed at 34 yds. with bulk ammo. if you count the 2 two stray shots as flyers or as user error, then it grouped 5 with .05 center to center. im am very satisfied and can't wait to go squirrel hunting with it.

Nice work

Upgrade to better ammo and you'll see those groups shrink as you use more consistant ammo

Side to side variations are usually wind or shooter related...have you done the trigger yet??

i polished the insides of the trigger mechanism and action with 600 grit wet or dry. the trigger pull is a little heavy but has a crisp break now.

Read this thread...ALL the way to the End.
How I adjusted the trigger on my Marlin 60 (Drawing) - RimfireCentral.com Forums

The reason I say all the way to the end, some Info has been UPDATED as to what works best and what didn't turn out so well over the years.

Best mods are changing certain springs & the 6/32" setscrew mod.
On the setscrew mod, you have to be VERY precise in where you drill yer hole in the trigger

One other great mod for YOU, grab a tennis ball & squeeze it in your spare time, or one of those handgrip thingy's like an Eagle Claw trainer or a squeezy grip to strengthen your fingers & grip.

The more power you have, the lighter the pull feels

And I'm loving Federal AutoMatch .22lr bulk packs...pretty darn good stuff

Walmart sells it a lot less expensively than gun shops.
