Yugo SKS gas switch.

Hey guys,
On my yugo gas switch, it has the 12 oclock and 2 oclock position. When it is in the 2 oclock position the grenade ladder is loose a little, but if i press the switch further down, as if trying to go to a 3 oclock position, it locks the ladder in place the switch stays pressed down, but easily pops back up. Is this normal for the switch to do this? I've never really noticed it.

That's how mine is, but by loose it's only able to move about 3/32"

i've got a problem with my selector switch. It is stuck in the 12 o'clock position. I've cleaned it extremely well and done everything that i can think of, but it still wont move. Any suggestions?

I did shoot about 20 rounds with it in the 12 o'clock position with wolf ammo, so i figured it was just dirty, but like i said i cleaned it extremely well and it still wont move.

With the rifle cleared and safe, and the gas tube removed, you should be able to move the selector rearward toward the receiver, then the tip of the switch pulls out and you can remove the cap and spring and clean them up. During normal use you have to depress the switch and rotate it. If you cant depress it, the spring may be damaged.

Oh yeah, welcome aboard.

To Vlad, it's completely normal. To Overspool, on top of what the other guys said, when you get the valve out, I would suggest scrubing it up, inside and out, with a wire brush. Also, if you can find a wire brush small enough, I would also scrub the port in the valve. Keep it all wet with some nitro solevent while you're scrubbing it too. Then, put it back in dry and clean. Welcome to Gun and Game!

thanks for the welcome guys i probably won't be very active on these forums, considering i only own 3 guns (my sks, a glock 19, and a ruger 10-22 haha). I'll strip it down again. I remember that last time I couldn't get the switch out, so i'll try what you guys have said. Thanks again

EDIT: the spring is fine, i can depress it. frenchy, it won't turn, correct. i can depress the swtich and turn it about 2 mm and thats it
