I know I am really missing deer season in IL right now. Has anybody on here been out bow hunting or have any report on what the rut is doing. I'm planning on heading back in a week or so to get a little bit of bow hunting in and seeing what I can do during firearm season.

just got back from mcleansboro and rut was hot in the am then tward dark it picked up agin saw alot of bucks chasing does and sparing if you wait for gun season your missing out on alot of the rut try throwing sticks at them bow season rocks
He's even more wound up than ever about the upcoming season and with all the crap he's been going through lately I sure hope he pops a nice one!
The old guy deserves a nice deer this season!

shoot straight and don't trust them pesky deer one bit! They are sneaky, low down and have got the best of me more times than I like to admit!!
LOL I just hope to have venison on Thanksgiving its all I'm askin'! A big doe and smoke rolling out of the smoker... of course I wouldnt pass on a big rack either!

Getting antsy.....
I drew an early season either sex permit for Castle Rock State Park, near Oregon, IL.. I've hunted it in the past and have seen several bucks in there, but it's always been antlerless only, so I've mostly just enjoyed watching the bucks, and have taken a few does..
My CVA .45 cal muzzleloader's ready, and sighted in. Looking forward to hearing that first shot Friday morning!! Wouldn't even mind if it's me..
I'm also looking forward to my annual deer hunting nap.. Nothing like snoozing in the woods!!
