with the state of the economy coupled with the irrational fear or the RTKBA being removed, people are snapping. Unfortunately the news media only covers the sensational, not the every day examples of armed citizens defending themselves from attackers. probably because gramma holding a robber at gun point and making him call the police on himself have no video clip to go with it.

my thoughts go out to the victims, and I would hope that no one need feel so desperate again.

Does anyone find it Odd that while upwards of 50,000 people were gathered on the steps of the Capitol protesting the Health Care Bill , The spotlight gets turned to a Tragic shooting at Ft. Hood , commanding all of the Medias attention ???

sensationalism trumps all. although in this case an Army major shooting up a bunch of colleagues warrants investigation. It's bad enough our service men and women are being put in harms way in some dusty hell hole without them being shot at at their home.

I'd have to agree that as the economy worsens, this will unfortunately become the norm... And with unemployment getting to 10.2%, well, it's gotten worse already.

I'd also add that with this one it seems very odd because he hadn't worked where he did the shootings for a few years???

There was also another shooting in Louisiana. A man shot up his family including a two yr old boy. The economy is imploding, it's causes family troubles which lead to things like this.
Moose, that is highly coincidental, the way things are going, gun owners will be under scrutiny for sure. Unemployment is around 20% but they juggle the numbers to where it looks lower.
This govt has got to go. they are just feeding off the mayhem. It's a self feeding cycle now.

I agree Deersniper !
What is Not being added to the 10% figures of Unemployment are the people who no longer get Benefits and those working Part time jobs and self employed doing Odd jobs just to keep some food on the table...Or The people that are on Welfare that dont work...

Add that up...
Last time something Important was hapening with our Government , Michael Jackson Died and stole the Media spotlight...Yesterday , the shooting in Ft.Hood.

I think the Ft Hood shoot is a bigger story, BUT if I hadn't read about it here I wouldn't have know there was a demo at the cap! And I'm not a hermit (yet) I watch the local and national news and read the Tulsa World everyday.

Yes, they fired him 2 years ago for 'performance issues' accoring to the news reports, which can mean much or nothing. I'll bet he got to brooding about his troubles, concluded the architects who fired him were at the bottom of them all, and set out to "get even." It's not the first time something like this has happened, and unless the economy turns around it won't be the last.

Unfortunately, with the Obamists doing nothing to benefit the People, I don't see the economy turning around any time soon. Expect more reports like this one, especially as guilt over not being able to give the family the kind of Christmas they deserve mounts as we move into the holiday season.

The shooter at Ft Hood worked on O's team and with DHS, before he was transferred, my question is; was he on depression drugs himself, and were these other two shooters under counseling and were they on them as well? I would love to have a independent lab examine their blood tests.
The side effect of these drugs is suicidal tendencies.

Not at all, Rich, especially when you consider that the media has consistently downplayed the large numbers of people at tea parties and even the large number of actual tea parties there are. Let's see how the media handles the demonstration in DC tomorrow which is against the new health care proposal. Basically they will ignore it or play down the number of people involved. Isn't that called being in someone's back pocket? I agree with you: every time something goes south with us, the press finds some social issue to take the heat off the admin.

True enough. Remember how the MSM tried to downplay the number of people who showed up this summer for the protests against DC's continuing intransigence re: obeying Heller? Best estimate I saw was somewhere between 100,000 and 150,000 people - but the left-leaning media tried to downplay it to 10,000 people, just as they tried to up-play the so-called "Million Mom March" where maybe 100,000 people showed into one million people when it wasn't even close to that.
