Sorry to all the glock owners, but I always looked at it as a "johnny come lately". I personally don't think it belongs on the list. The rest of the list is good, and I really enjoyed the final diatribe against my former home state of kommiefornica!! I chuckled all the way through it. LMAO!!
It does, in fact, have a safety, but it's quite hard to engage. But this is not a complaint one would ever voice in the Red Army. Your officer would reply, "Safety? Safety? Is gun! Meant to kill! No warrior should know he has safety on gun, because he should be killing enemies of homeland! Safety make loud click to aid enemy in locating warriors! No safety!" while pounding his fist on the table.
+1000 on that one

This has been posted before, but it's always worth a read. I don't agree with all the firearms on it - but with a list like this, who ever does?
Personally, I'd dump the Poodle Shooter. Real Men don't do varmint caliber guns except for plinking at their empties while drinking beer. That POS is responsible for the deaths of thousands of soldiers by malfunctioning when they needed it the most. Curtis LeMay and Robert MacNamara deserve to have their otherwise estimable reputations tarnished for authorizing procurment of the Jam-A-Matic.
I'd replace it with the CETME/G3/HK 91, a true battle rifle superior in every way except weight to the AR line. I'd listen to the argument that the FN-FAL should replace it instead.
I understand where Williamson is coming from with the K31; but I can't help but feel he included it mainly to get the Swiss people into the list. When all is said and done, the K31 never saw action, although I'm sure it would have been a great battlefield performer. I'd replace it with the FN-FAL.
I have to admit a certain amount of prejudice with my next objection. I'd put the Mossberg 500 in the list ahead of the Remington 870. There's little to choose between them, except this: the safety of the 500 is much better than that of the 870, Plus, it's easier to change barrels on a Mossberg than a Remington. But as noted, this is a personal feeling and not a commentary on the fitness of the Remington to be on the list.
I'd lose the Glock, too. Again, it's personal; I simply don't like the way they feel in my hand. I'd replace it with either the Taurus Judge or the CZ-82. Both are rugged performers at close range, and the CZ-82 has one of the sweetest triggers I've ever felt on a pistol. But again, this is a personal thing.
I have a slight feeling that I read this before, but it's still interesting, thanks for posting it. I will point out that though the Ishapore Enfield was built from the ground up to be .308 (well 7.62x51mm), not rebarreled.

Well the definition of that phrase is "A newcomer or latecomer, especially a recent adherent to a cause or trend."
I guess if that cause or trend is making a combat pistol that is accurate, highly reliable, capable of high capacity (in every caliber), that works right out of box and requires no silly break in period, then I guess they are doing it pretty well.
