I debate the fact you state that the boomslang is more venomous than the Fierce Snake. When did the statistics replace the "inland taipan" as No.1??? Being in Australia it is still taught here that we have the top 5 most venomous snakes in the world.
The Boomslang will make you bleed to death through your skin, the Fierce Snake aka Inland taipan is neurotoxic.
I live 8 miles from Checotah. Never seen a diamondback around my place, but I'm overrun with pygmy rattlers. They are about 18 inches long. I'm gonna train them to keep city folk out in case the SHTF.

Inland Taipan has the most lethal venom for MICE, as research shows. Humans are particularly suseptable to the venom of the Boomslang, and Saw scaled viper. Inland Taipans venom hasn't been researched enough to make that determination. Mg for Mg, the Boomslang has more toxic venom. At least most research has shown. It's all subjective anyways.
I personally DON'T want to get bit by ANY venomous snake, EVER!
I've had some close calls in the past and they were frightening!
Shame on you guys! Snakes are one of God's creatures too! They were not put on earth just to bite people. Now, I have not had any experience with snakes of other countries, so can't speak for them. But, I have had experience with the North American varieties. Contrary to apparent popular opinion, a snake will not go out of his way to bite a human. We don't taste good. From what I've read, most snake bites have occured because someone accidently stepped on them, handled one carelessly, etc.. If given a chance, a snake will run the other way. They don't like us any more than people like them. I've stepped over them, walked right by them & once in a while have to pick one up to move it from my yard back into his territory - the wooded land I own next to where my house stands. Mostly I have copper heads. Caught one cotton mouth which had made a nice home in my shop. Had to re-introduce him to the wild. Living where I do, I'd be overrun with rats & mice if not for the snakes. They do serve a purpose, so be kind please!
Mitchr...come down here to the Ozarks and I'll introduce ya to some cottonmouths...they WILL attack with little or no provocation! We have copperheads and rattlesnakes here too, but they don't bother me too bad...cottonmouths scare the bejeebus out of me! (water moccasin if ya want to be technical).
I understand that snakes have a purpose...here's my policy.
A) ANY snake in my yard....=dead snake!
B) Snakes in the wild...non-poisonous=I leave it alone, poisonous=dead snake.
LOL funny story...last year I was outside wearing PJ shorts and flip-flops....almost stepped on a 2 foot copperhead...I squalled, jumped, almost shat myself, and ran back to the house to regroup. A few minutes later my next-door neighbor pulled into her driveway to see me in nothing but shorts and knee-high boots patrolling my yard with my tactical mossberg at full "combat-ready" firing position. Luckily, my neighbors are used to my shenanigans...she didn't even ask, just went inside like nothing was happening. LMAO

Got caught out in the middle of a creek, fishing, with only one clear path through about 5 ft. of brush all along the bank & a large cotton mouth coiled at the base of a tree right by the trail. Walked within a foot of him on my way out. Another time, out on a hunt & on the way back to camp. My dad told me to stop & stand still. Looked down & a copper head coiled between my feet. Guess I'm just lucky.
Seriously folks, I never have feared snakes, played with non-poisonous ones as a kid. Early on I learned which were the poisonous ones & just respected the fact that they can hurt me. I don't know what kept the two, I told about, from biting me. When I got out of that creek, I found my dad & showed him the snake & the trail I had to use to get out of the creek. He just shook his head in disbelief. I guess I was about 9 or 10 years old at the time.
On the other hand, a spider or a rat sends chills up & down my spine. I mean it! I'm starting to get over my fear of spiders & I guess it's from being around them so much. We live in a rural area & they make their webs everywhere - shop, garage, back patio, trees - everywhere. Don't see the rats, just signs that they are around. Either rats or mice chewed the wiring up in my wife's car. We have poison & traps out for them, but apparently do not live in the garage. Found where they chewed through the rubber seal on the bottom of the garage door. And, that's why I remarked that without snakes around, we'd be overrun with rats.
That sure is a WHOOPER Snake !!!! I think if I was to meet up with one that huge I'd tried to catch it and send to Obama as a gift.., Would'nt yall love to see his reaction ?...A.H

I came face to face with a cottonmouth once near a pond. I was fishing and was trying to get out of eyeshot of the other people with me to take a leak and turn a corner and HOLY ****! I'm staring face to face with a Cottonmouth Adder (We've always called them Water Mocassins around here and no, I'm not going to stop doing it.). I look at him, he looks at me, I start backing up, he starts backing up, and then I start turning around and he starts turning around and I start running, and he starts slithering away. When I finally stop and turn around to look back, he's as gone as a wild goose in winter. I guess he didn't like the look of me any better than I did him. I'm glad it turned out that way, but if one gets anywhere near the house, I'm unapologetically going to frag him. I'm not taking any stupid foolish chances of me, a family member, or a pet dying for trying to be kind to snakes.

I am trying to follow the twisted path of this thread. All I can add is I can see big snakes easier than little ones so they don't scare me as bad but I am still afraid of them.If I fear something will harm me,I remove it,perminately if possible. ,,,sam.
I live in the semi-arid (SW desert). I've seen a lot of diamondbacks on hikes over the years but never this big. I don't like when people kill them, either. What's the point? It's only about a million times more likely, at least, that a human will harm you over any animal. It's just left over instinct of survival. Too bad we don't have the instinct to survive the implosion of our societies. Gotta do that with pure logic and reason.
