.410 steel shot

Does anyone know of any manufactures that make .410 steel or non toxic shot shells. I hunt on a wildlife refuge and and would like to occasionally use my little .410 O/U for a change so far I have had little luck with the larger manufacturers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would hope not,as they use a fixed choke to get the max out of the few shot a .410 has and steel is hell on barrels. As I recall a .410 full is reduced from .410" to about .390".That would wear out quick with steel. ,,,sam.

I would go with Hevi Shot classic doubles. Due to the light weight of steel pellets you typically want to up size 2 sizes in the pellet. This is not good in a small capapcity hull. The hevi shot can be used in standard shot sizes. Not hard on fixed chokes or older guns to boot.

“CLASSIC DOUBLES” from Hevi-Shot

Thank you Jerry. I should have been a little more specific in my request for info and said non toxic shot. I tend to use the heavier than lead load ammo anyway where or when required. As in waterfowl hunting or on the refuges for pheasant or rabbit. As much money as I spend for my days in the field. I am not going to try to save on inexpensive ammo. Thank you Jerry

.410 steel shot

RangerGSP,

Look in some of the waterfowl catalogs, I remember seeing non-toxics, ie bismuth in on of them like Herters, or some other one. Had non-toxic in all gauges and bores available, even .410. Sorry I cannot be of more help, but factory non-toxic loads ARE available, just have to look, Heck they even had them in 28 gauge!!
