there are 16 parts that count as "evil" you may only 10 of those evil parts may come from another country other than the usa.
at least that is the way it was explained to me........ someone will come along to get you a list of the parts that count soon im sure.... sorry but im tired and lazy so i dont want to find it right now.
I would kinda rather run saiga style because I want to have a straight up removable mag rather than run a magazine lock like I would otherwise have to.

I have seen on Calguns that some people have gone montecarlo to avoid the lock. I am not too sure about this though.

Well it follows the letter of the law and is why Saigas are able to be run without maglocks as long as they aren't converted. I could technically run one without a pistol grip and still be legal too. It'd be a pain in the butt to shoot tho..

FS, go up and take a look at the stickied thread regarding AK builds:
A receiver is considered a "part" on that list of 16 parts. That means you will need to make sure that you only have 10 other foreign parts on the gun. On most AK's, that means there will be six US-made parts, but if you don't have a pistol grip and stick with a monte carlo setup, you'll only need 5 (including the receiver), as is mentioned in the sticky. You can also forego a muzzle device and take it down to 4 (including receiver) so you'd only need three more... which could be taken care of with a Tapco G2 trigger kit.

Yup, that's another way to do 3 parts, but it's kind of nice to have the option of buying a bunch of cheap "new in cosmoline" magazines from com-block countries and not worry about being 922(r) compliant.

+1 on that
How does that work that if your in possession of non-US magazines? I am wondering that if you possess any magazines for that type of rifle that they need to have the needed US parts or if you not you could get jammed up.

Nope... it's the 'not have more than 10 foreign parts from the list on the rifle' that you have to worry about. If the magazines aren't inserted into the mag-well, they're not part of the rifle, they're just random parts.
