Metal finishing...

I record all the shooting shows on Wednesday's from off the Outdoor channel and I watch them when I get the chance or feel like it.

Well a few hours ago I watched this past Wednesdays airing of Sighting in With Shooting USA. Jim Scoutten had purchased a really old beat up and battered and abused Winchester model 97, said he paid $200 bucks for it.

Anyhow, he wanted to see what the company D&B Metal Finishing could do. He had their gunsmith take care of the business areas f the model 97 and then had the finishing dept. take care if the rest. if I could only pick and use one word to describe it, that one word would be IMMACULATE.

Of course it wasn't cheap. But I suppose when you consider all the work done to it and the fact it is custom work, in reality, for the times, it isn't all that expensive. But he said the total restore cost $1300. Had it been a model 97 that didn't need the action repaired he said it would have only cost about $800 bucks.

Here's the link to the model 97 at Sighting in with Shooting USA. Scroll to/look for the section titled D&B Metal Finishing restores model 97.

Well seeing the before and after on the show (and there is at least one picture of the before at the above link and for a larger image of all pictures you can just click on them) I was so impressed with the way the model 97 turned out, and also during the show Jim Scoutten had a few handguns they'd refinished that I wanted to look into and see more work they do and or have done.

well, I can't say I'd want all my firearms custom finished, but I would love to pick one or get one and have something done. Something that would fit me and my personality.

Seriously, take a look at some of the work they've done. There were more then a few I liked. At their link below click on the categories on the right, though some have no pictures yet , more the categories towards the bottom of the list, (I believe they might have just added these to their portfolio, if you will), but the ones that do have pictures just click on the first picture and watch the slide show.

And I'm quite sure some will like a lot, some not at all, and some will be in the middle. Anyhow, enjoy....

That 97 looked great! No wonder it costs so much to get it redone. Great pictures. thanks.
