Agreed! If I can't say something to someone personally, it can wait until I see them.

I hate Facebook. What is that farm game crap everybody keeps sending me critters for? Only reason why I have it is for all my work related contacts I want to keep in touch with. I have some many people wanting to be friends, then when I put them on it, all they do is talk about stupid stuff they do throughout the day. Who cares about baby diapers, or being tired or watching tv. They get deleted soon after that.

Used to. Found it was taking too much of my time and put it down. Still have the profile, but I log on maybe once every two weeks. Basically if there's something on there I hear about that sounds interesting or I'm tagged in something.

I actually did the facebook thing for work. They called it social networking or some such thing. If you wanna reach the 20 somethings and teens you gotta be connected. Got a new assignment now and haven't been on the FB thingie in months, AND I'd rather have my butt kicked (again) than talk on the phone much.

No facebook, blogs or any of that stuff. I even had my text message function turned off on my cellphone.

I read 1 post & I'm smiling, I read the next & I'm shaking my head. I'm a perfect example of why people like FB. I'm thousands of miles away from my wife, friends & family & by simply going on line they can check up on me & see what's up. What loving parent WOULDN'T want to see what's going on with their kids over in a war zone????? Come on!!!
Those of you who are still acting like it's some kind of shameful thing or newfangled self-promoting internet billboard need to realize that it's a tool that can & should be used if you want to. Don't be that guy who sits on his porch whiddling wood all day & misses out on something you might find interesting because you're too stubborn!
You're obviously already using a computer and are on the net, since you're on here. Why not have an open mind & see if something's for you or not before you say "The earth is round? Mwahahahaha! Did you hear what the young man just proclaimed? That's nonsense sonny boy! We've known forever that the earth is flat. Now stay away from the edge or you'll go right over!".
When I 1st got on FB like 3 years ago, nobody in my family had it & I used it to basically see what my friends were up to (essentially completely random stuff, clearly not important in the grand scheme of things in any way). Now I have something like 15 family members on it, including uncles & aunts (YES, PLURAL, AS IN 2 AUNTS & 2 UNCLES) as well as my mom & dad. There's 6 people right there in their 50s on FB cuz they actually took a few minutes to create a profile. A few minutes of simply following instructions, just like on this website, so they can say "Hi, I miss you. Hope all's well over there." It's like a mini email, nothing more.
My mom's barely able to send an email & EVEN SHE'S got a FB page so she can click on mine or my brother's page & see pictures of us over here, an ocean away. She can see pictures of me doing a humanitarian mission or a combat patrol or at a sheiks house or at the gym. It's the little things in life that make you smile sometimes. Being able to get a quick note from my wife on FB telling me how much she loves & misses me...it makes my day. I don't need a huge email & don't have to wait 'til our schedules are aligned & I certainly won't do what I've seen written here about waiting 'til I see somebody to talk to them. Life's too short. What if you wanted to tell them how much they mean to you? What if you never got to tell them how special they are?
Are there friends of mine on there who annoy the hell outta me cuz they feel the need to tell everybody their every move? ABSOLUTELY! You know what I do? I hit "Hide Posts from this person". Are there friends of mine who sent me mafia wars invites daily? Yup, there were. Then I hit the button "Block this application". It's really not that hard to do. Like anything else, the more you use it, the better you are with it. Also, there's all kinds of groups on there, for everything from Support the troops to political discussion to the "just for fun" category.
The lesson I've been trying to give here isn't get facebook or you're living in the stone age, it's be open minded before you hate on something you've never used. Think about when you bought your 1st computer. Was it 5 years ago, maybe 10? I bought my 1st laptop at 18 years old & it was an IBM thinkpad that cost me a grand cash. My internet connection was 14.4 dialup & that was the 2nd best available at the time. Back then people were all up in arms about chat rooms, right? "Oh those shady people in chat rooms, always talking about sex & the like!". Look at it now, there's chat on here! (with some shady people still talking about sex & the like lol ).

I ditched mine for that reason. I actually don't want to know every thing. A time sucker as well.

It broke my heart to know I couldn't check on the "shirt" anymore Jerry!

Facebook is a very much of a tool, as well as a time waster.

I'm growing a bit tired of it...and may actually start a new hobby when I start using it less.
