Thumbs up

Toolman...thanks for your good report. It's a reminder to all of us to 1...use proper equipment for the job, 2, get the scope zeroed in and be sure it stays zeroed in., 3. look far and wide if you don't first find your game when you know it's been hit. Obviously there's a limit to what you can do, though.

My condolences.... I hate to miss... even if it's paper. The last thing I want to do is make an animal suffer... my ex-wife maybe but not an animal.

On this note... I've been iron sighting it most of my life and now that I am getting more and more into hunting and longer distance targets....

What are your favorite scopes for short, mid and long range?

toolman about the same thing happened to me back in 1983. I put a cheap Bushnell 3x9 on my Marlin Leveraction in .375 caliber.
I sighted it in at 80 yards and was hitting inside of a circle the size of a 50 piece.

I put the gun in my gun cabinet and a month or so later deer season was here.
I went out opening morning and the biggest racked deer I've ever seen to this day walked withen 20 yards to my right and stopped.

I did my part but the buck jumped a mile high and landed right in front of me, about another 20 yards.
I shot again he ran 45 degrees away to my left, from me and stopped again. I shoy again and he left the country.

I never hit him !!!

I went up to the old house place and walked off 50 or so yards and shot my rifle 15 times.

The first shot was 26 inches high to the right at 2 oclock. I'd adjust it down and left but after a couple of shots it went back to 26 inchs high to the right at 2 oclock.

It was the scope. I parked that rifle up until 7 to 8 years ago. I put another scope on it and went to useing it.
With great success.

Everybody please when you go to check your zero plan on doing it one more time like I'm fixing to do tomarrow. Scope's seem to have a mind of there own sometimes ...A.H

[B]EDIT::: After the above happened I built a nice lean to stand to put where I shot at this Buck.

Due to my job I could'nt hunt but on week ends. My brother gave me a call asking if he could go hunting with me and of course I said yes. he does'nt hunt much.

On our way to the woods I thought about where I could put him, I had know intention's of putting him on my new deerstand.

When we got to the woods were walking to my new deerstand and I'm thinking where to put my brother.

At the last minute I give him my new stand to use and I walked back down a logging road about a 1/4 mile away.

I had'nt sat down 15 minutes BANG I here my brothers shotgun fire... He killed my Monster Buck LOL
The buck and a doe walked withen 5 yards of my new stand that cost $45.00 to build plus one speeding ticket I got for going 70 in 55 mile zone on the way for my brother and I to go hunting that morning.

It was a big racked 11 point that he had mounted LOL It was his first deer.

I even provided the buck shot that killed the buck and I showed him how to load his new Remington 870

I'm I not a Nice Guy ???

OK guys, I've got an update on the one that got away. I've got several pics of him on my other card, but this is the only one on this card. As you all can see, he's alive and well and looks none the worse for wear, but he seems to have gone nocturnal. I've got pics of him from the last three nights also.
