Great post. Thank you for posting it, LiveToShoot. It prompted me to ask my kids if they knew what Veterans Day is. This year and from now on, if we turn on the T.V. on Veterans Day, we will be watching a "Patriotic movie" or a Vet related movie or show. Thanks for the inspiration. Thank you to all Vets, past and present.

Back In England, the remembrance day parades are televised. I used to march with my army cadet troop. in the local parade and watch the big one in london on the TV.

God bless all who serve.

I served in the army, but during peace time so I know that there is no way I can even imagine what it was like. I served from '57 to '60 & rubbed elbows with a lot of Korean & WWII vets. War veterans I've known generally stick to the humorous experiences that they had. Don't seem to want to talk about the rough times. My uncle fought in the pacific in WWII & had nightmares for years afterwards, In his dreams, he would get killed & then he could sleep. There is just no way to describe the sacrifice that they & their families have made for this country. I guess that's what makes me so d________ angry about what those b_______ in Washington are doing to it.

Smile Veterans Day

Second post; 'what is Veterans day'

Veterans Day is an annual American holiday honoring military veterans. Both a federal holiday and a state holiday in all states, it is usually observed on November 11. However, if it occurs on a Sunday then the following Monday is designated for holiday leave, and if it occurs Saturday then either Saturday or Friday may be so designated.[1] It is also celebrated as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day in other parts of the world, falling on November 11, the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. (Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice.)
