rebarrelling a remington 700

hey guys. i've got a remington 700 in .243, and I just ordered a 700p barrel in .308 from tac ops for it. I've already got a hogue stock that'll fit it, but i was wondering, how much would it cost to have somebody install the barrel? Or is it a do it yourself kinda thing? Sorry i've been gone so long, but it feels great to be back!

No,

no a thousand times no - do not attempt this as a do it yourself project.
A barrel must be properly headspaced to properly handle the cartridge.

Local gunsmith charges will dictate your price. It is more important to get a quality job than go for low price. So, check around for a gunsmith with a good reputation in this area.

Checking with Fulton Armory on rebarreling prices I figure to rebarrel with your barrel it should be somewhere in the one to two hundred dollar range.
Prices shown at FA include their barrel so subtract the barrel price to give a ball park figure.
You can do it yourself but purchasing the tools and gauges may exceed the price of having it done. Being mechanically skilled would be good too.
You biggest problem will be finding a good gunsmith.
