He did about 5-years ago when he and E. Stoner met and went to the range and shot each other's creations and then had a shoot out between the two of them (at targets of course).

Happy birthday, General Kalashnikov!

I always thought that on the occasion Eugene Stoner and Mikhail Kalashnikov met, someone should have taken them to a well-equipped machine shop with a good computerized drafting system and encouraged them to play with the thing, then make up what they devised. We might have be gifted with something suitable for whacking hostile aliens, or zombies, or something like that.

I am glad to see he is still alive, I thought he was dead a while back. Other than John Browing with the 1911, who else had such an inpact on the firearms industry? Eugene Stoner, M-16/AR-15? Samuel Colt and the revolver? A very exclusive club.

I'd say you're right about that being a pretty exclusive club. Kalashnikov's design has been tested time and time again. An AK-47 has even found its way on to a nation's flag it is so popular.

I'm Kinda Ticked at Fox News...On the ticker today they mentioned his Birthday and being Hailed By the Russian President as " A Hero for Russia" because of his AK-47 , Then Fox said " It is a Favorite weapon of choice for Rebels, Terrorists, Gangs and drug Dealers"....

They should have said:
" It is a Favorite weapon of choice for those who rely thier lives on thier weapon..."
but who can resist temptation to say something bad about Russians?
Almost nobody! Especially Fox.
After what they did with Georgia\Russia war I do not even switch to them.
Bunch of wh..res.

Anyway, it was movie about MK last night and he does still shoot.

I wish you guys saw new models:

The one that has barrel moving back and forth while shoots (like cannon)
and the one that shoots both above and under water (the same ammo).

Cool stuff!

I saw a show on the History Channel a year or two ago about that rifle with the recoiling barrel. It was in prototype form then. Has it gone into production or is it still a 'concept weapon?'

Too bad he didn't design the AN-94; or that it was canned from production a few years back...
