Actually, the war in the former Burma has given rise to some of the most horrible atrocities every perpetrated in a time of war. With the exception of a few mercenaries, no one else seems to care. The latest Rambo movie tried to portray it in an accurate way.
I guess its like Rwanda in the Clinton years. Its so ugly, no one wants to commit to getting involved. In todays world, people being massacred is ok so long as they can call it a "civil war."
And by the way, you'll remember how the democrats kept using the term "Iraqi civil war" to try to justify their position of complete removal of American forces there. Liberals, socialists, and the U.N. are perfectly OK with that. NGOs, the U.N., and charities never have a positive impact on a conflict. The only way to end them is to pick a side and start killing.
